Ellipse is an electric radiator with multiple functions controlled via an app. The project is the winner of the "Design Warm contest", promoted by the Italian company Scirocco, specialized in the production of bathroom towel heaters and radiators for the home.
The innovative idea proposed was a versatile electric radiator that could adapt to people's needs. In fact during a first phase of research we discover that for around 6 months per year radiators are useless and people used them for for other purposed like hanging towels or drying racks. From this first insight we developed a mobile stand alone radiator, that can be moved around the house without the necessity of being hanged to a wall. Moreover, the vertical dimension allows a better usage of space and better heating properties respect to traditional ones. To help the user having a better control of their heating system and pursuing the idea of "smart connected home" we designed an app to remotely set timers based on daily movements and to turn on the ambient light included in the base of the radiator. The body is realized in brushed brass to obtain an homogeneous heat exchange and 4 heat-resistance plastic clips are included allowing the user to hang clothes or towels during the hot season.
